Bharya Athra Pora Malayalam Movie review - Jayaram,Gopika

Akku Akbar’s latest flick ‘Bharya Athra Pora‘ has hit the theatres today. The team behind the successful film ‘Veruthe Oru Bharya’ – Akku Akbar, Girish Kumar, Jayaram and Gopika, is once again back with a film which has a similar theme. The film tells the story of a husband and a wife.
Sathyanathan played by Jayaram is an irresponsible school teacher. The film starts with his happy family which include his wife played by Gopika and a child. Sathyanathan’s laziness is affecting his commitment towards his family. He spends more time with his friends which he finds enjoyable. Gradually, this leads to conflicts between his wife and himself. This forms the crux of the film.
Unfortunately, the story line is too familiar and mundane. Girish Kumar who has written the screenplay for the movie lead the film along the conventional lines and many situations in the film will make us remember ‘Veruthe Oru Bharya’.
Jayaram has done justice to his role and Gopika who made a comeback, has handled the role of a harassed and frustrated wife very well. Other actors in the film Siddique, Aju Varghese, Reena Bashir, Sanju Karthika and Balachandran Chullikad have all done their roles well. Jibu Jacob’s camera, Lijo Paul’s editing and Shyam Dharman’s music are worth mentioning.
On the whole, the film is a family entertainer with a good story. Bottom line is, ‘Bharya Athra Pora’ is an average but a watchable movie.
